This Type II jacket is a modern reinterpretation of the iconic 1950s design, blending heritage craftsmanship with contemporary functionality. It features side and inner pockets, black copper buttons, premium pocket bags, and a new custom veg-tanned cowhide patch embossed with Oni’s demon face—alongside a freshly designed pocket flasher exclusive to this release.
What sets this model apart is the use of Secret Denim, a fabric that has achieved cult status among denim aficionados for its wild texture, luxurious softness, and dramatic fade potential. Woven from extra-thick 3.7x3.7 yarns using a proprietary mix of three cotton types, the 20oz unsanforized fabric is produced at ultra-low tension on vintage shuttle looms. The result is a beefy, knotty, slubby texture rich in character—hairy, rough, and unmistakable to the trained eye.
Rope-dyed with Oni’s secret indigo formula, the warp produces a uniquely tinted blue, while the beige-dyed weft adds warmth and contrast to the overall tone. The signature pink selvedge line finishes the fabric with a bold nod to Oni’s roots in detail-obsessed denim.
Fit Notes: Despite being a Japanese-made jacket, like most ONI garments, the sizing of this Type II leans more Western than traditionally Japanese. If you typically wear a size M in American jackets, you’ll likely find a good fit with a size 40 (M) in this model. However, as always, we recommend checking our size chart to ensure the best fit. The fabric is unsanforized but has been once-washed, so no further shrinkage is expected.
